5 Ways to Love Yourself Through the Dark Nights of the Soul

If you are a conscious being on the path of becoming the best version of yourself, you're going to go through several dark nights of the soul. These are deaths of your ego. Things you thought you were going to be or do or become. Ways of being that no longer serve you, slip out of your fingers faster than sand. It's like someone coming up behind you and jack chopping you by the throat while knocking your feet out from under you at the same time. Not fun, but we all go through these dark nights as we ascend. The dark nights can last a few days, a few weeks, or a few seasons. So how do we hold space for ourselves?
1. Humor. The angels and the universe have your back. Though it feels horrible and is often sad and heartbreaking, funny things happen, and there are always silver linings that we can laugh at. One of the quickest ways to healing is through laughter. When you're in a dark night there's really nowhere to go but up. Once you can loosen up and be a little lighter with yourself the stagnant energies start moving in your vessel on your behalf. Just breathe and laugh. Find the humor.
2. Ask for Help. No one is going to be there to save you, but you. If you need help, be brave enough to ask for it. Sometimes part of our ego death is letting ourselves be vulnerable in an ultra independent world. Asking for help can feel like nails on a chalkboard to some people. Sometimes it takes some guts to get over that. I promise you, if you ask others and especially if you ask your angels for help, they are going to show up.
3. Trust. Practice trust. Know that even though this is a super dark time and you don't know how you're going to get through it, this is happening for you. These dark nights are created to wake us and to shake us. To move us into places that we are not comfortable going to on our own. If we allow ourselves to answer our soul's truest calls, it's going to lead us to our truest path. If you're brave enough to trust and to walk, you will be rewarded tenfold. Trust baby.
4. Love. True love is an energy of non-judgment and acceptance. The more you can forgive yourself, love yourself and truly hold space for yourself, the quicker you will move through your dark night. The more you can love the broken pieces, the more you can find love in the shitty situations. The more love you find the more potent the dark night will be for you. When all else fails and you don't know what else to do, just love and be love. Breathe and love.
5. Nourish. Again, no one in the world is coming to save you but you. No one is going to feed you, water you, or grow you, but you. The only one who can actually take care of themselves and nourish themselves is you. So even on your darkest day when you don't want to crawl out of bed, you need to take a deep breath, drink water and water yourself. You need to make teas and soups and foods that bring you joy and nourishment. You need to move your body and allow your body's movement to nourish your soul. So much energy gets stagnant in our vessels. If we do not move it, our emotional energy becomes stuck as well. While going through a dark night, make sure you eat healthy food and exercise each day, no matter how much you don't feel like it. Even if it's just something short and sweet. Give your own vessel and soul the fighting chance. No one is coming to save you but you.

A dark pool’s Edge
is a threshold

intimidating

sometimes life’s push.
It matters not the method
by which the pool is entered,
what matters is being inside
meeting oneself there
embracing oneself there
inside the imaginal realm,
into the unknown depths
inside of one’s
Subconscious
Unconscious
the Underneath, the Roots of one’s being.
The journey within requires
Courage
Grit
Bravery
Compassion
Brutal Honesty
Patience
Strength
and Surrender
Breathing underwater for as long as it takes.
Destructive forces pick at
and peel away
still-attached scabs
untouched layers
revealing secrets deeply known
yet still hidden,
discovered and cherished
to become parts
of the reconstruction
oneself reassembled
marinating and congealing
resurfacing anew.
Bolder. Wiser. Familiar yet Unfamiliar. Metamorphosed. Purified. Alchemized.
Dead. Reborn.
Remember, Love, allow your new parts to dry
before you fly.
